ALL applying staff members, including returning staff, will be required to submit Trails, CBI, and FBI background checks, including fingerprinting. Upon your hire date, the Staffing Coordinator will send you details on how to obtain these checks best and submit them to Calvin Camp. You will not be able to work without submitting this information.

Staff Position Descriptions
Counselor: Must be at least 18 years of age. Supervise campers in daily activities; plan nightly cabin devotions; supervise daily cabin cleanup; assist campers in creating a skit for Skit Night, participating in daily activities with campers. Counselors are needed based on the number of campers we are serving each week. There are typically 7-9 campers per counselor.
Archery Instructor: Must be at least 16 years of age and CPR certified. Supervise archery range; instruct campers in use of bow and arrow; maintain and repair equipment while keeping safety as the main priority.
Bible Leader: Must be at least 16 years of age. Teach daily Bible lessons for campers using prepared materials; lead daily Bible lessons using curriculum. Curriculum will be prepared and given to you in advance. Manage and find ways to make learning about Jesus a fun and healthy environment.
Camp Hand: Must be at least 16 years of age. Answer to the Camp Director/Assistant Director and assist with camp program, cleanup, and maintenance with a good attitude. Two to three camp hands are needed each week.
Cook: Must be at least 21 years of age. Work with Calvin Camp Board to create a menu compliant with state regulations; prepare meals in a timely manner for up to 100 people.
Cook’s Helper: Must be at least 21 years of age. Assist with meal preparation, cooking, and cleanup throughout the week. Maintain a healthy kitchen environment and orderly manner while helping.
Craft Leader: Must be at least 16 years of age. Supervise and instruct campers in creating daily crafts and projects. Maintain camper and staff relations, keeping crafthouse clean and in order. Managing tye-dye operations throughout the week.
Lifeguard: Must be at least 16 years of age and have Advanced Lifesaving and CPR Certifications or Shallow Water Safety. Supervise the pool, instruct campers in the safe use of the pool; design and implement pool games for campers. One lifeguard is needed each week.
Nurse: Must be at least 21 years of age and have current RN, LPM, EMT, or Advanced Lifesaving certification. Be on call to provide first aid to campers and staff. Store, dispense, and document medications for campers and staff at designated times. One nurse is needed each week.
Riflery Instructor: Must be at least 18 years of age and have current Hunter Safety and CPR certifications. Supervise shooting range, instruct campers in gun safety and handling, and clean and repair equipment. One riflery instructor is needed each week.
Team Games Course Supervisor: Must be at least 16 years of age. Develop and run daily “team-building” games and activities on the outdoor team games course. Run the daily activities from slackline, tires, logs, etc. to maintain camper relations and create a friendly challenging environment. Must be CPR certified.
Director: Must be at least 21 years of age. Create daily schedules for camp activities with timelines and agendas. Manage camper and staff relations, create and administer games changing and adhering to camp themes and values. Plan and execute chapel and R&R schedules and activities. Maintain a relationship with the campers and staff, lead the staff in their duties. Must have previous camp experience.
Assistant Director: Must be at least 18 years of age and assist the Director in their duties at camp. Help manage and facilitate camp days, nights and activities while also maintaining relationships with fellow staff members and campers. Assist and lead fellow staff members in their jobs. Must have previous camp experience.
Camp Operations: Must be at least 18 years of age and worked at camp before. Support camp operations by taking photos and videos around camp as needed throughout the week and post to social media daily. Organize gluten free meals for campers at meal times. Fill in for staff when needed/when staff needs breaks. Check in with staff daily and maintain the gap between counselors and support staff with directors while communicating properly. Must have previous camp experience.
